For ASL instructors and interested people.

In this ASL Vlog, I give some examples on how I test my ASL students comprehension in ASL 1 specifically Unit 2 from SN Curriculum.

David,

I will show you mine what I did in my HS ASL class. It is almost same as your. I will do vlog soon rather than explain here because of ASL. =]

That's a great way of testing. I teach Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and will try this method. Thank you for sharing.

Hi David-

I like your idea- I currently teach ASL 1 at high school and one of my concerns is that the fact that ASL 1 means a very beginner's level so i am not sure that the students are ready for receptive. I feel that those methods would benefit ASL 2 students. Lemme know if this experience suceeds! I am willing to try this out with my high school students and I will ask them if they like this method. Thanks for sharing your idea, though!

What a great way to exchange ideas on how we test our ASL students. I do teach ASL from time to time and will try that out.

Question: Whenever ASL students respond, do you require them to write in ASL Gloss format or not?

David,
I will be teaching ASL 2 at university this semester and have been trying to find a better way to measure their receptive skills.

I was wondering if there is any material that would be useful in creating quiz/test? Need it to be reliable and valid measurement...

By the way, I am using Signing Naturally book.

Any suggestion?
