Hey - Timing cant be better! You are correct - we should shift our focus and support ASLTA and help them to become a powerful organization! Once they become powerful, they can represent many people in USA related to ASL instructions!

Let's raise our ASL standards and expectations!

hello...
i understand what you are trying to say...
unfortunately, i don't see aslta as a bona fide nor reputable professional organization...
i'd tried to get the board some 8-10 years ago to listen to my proposal regarding the certification procedure but they chose not to... so be it...
i can only try to support aslta by being a member, that's all...
i'm a well-known asl teacher (with almost 20 years of asl teaching) minus aslta certification and i am just fine...
it is up to the board to let go of its power and control...

Hello! I've watched all four of your vlogs and can't wait to see more. I am deaf and have taught ASL at a day school for the deaf for 2 years, but am not a native signer... (brought up oral **sigh**) ...but have been using ASL for almost 10 years now...AND LOOOOVE IT... and am always looking for ways to improve. I'm going to look into ASLTA now. I've looked at it before and thought, whoa, that's a lot, but... Maybe I should try and see where my weaknesses are and go from there. Welcome and thanks for the encouragement to all of us who teach ASL! Keep on vlogging!

Just posted a just a second ago. Just wanted to tell you that the link to Frederick's ASL Studies doesn't work.

To my Anonymous Friend,
The ASL Studies at FCC link is now fixed. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it!

Hi, I'm your anonymous friend. Thanks for fixing the link to Frederick. I checked it out. Looks good. :)

I am curious, you have been talking about establishing higher expectations for ASL teachers, even encouraging them to get PhDs. In linguistics? What was your personal course of study and how did you happen to get to Frederick? Maybe you could do a v-log telling a little more about yourself and how you came to be where you are today (when I meet someone new, I like to see the history and ask a million and one questions... Remember Jon Savage did the funny story about his younger school years a while ago? Helped me to identify more with him.)

Anyway, thought you might be willing to share more of how you got to be where you are today, as an instructor at Frederick? Maybe you have some insight into multiple pathways for someone who's interested in teaching ASL at the community college or four-year institution level. Many thanks in advance if you do so choose to address this.

I have a few questions about ASLTA. I'm ASL naive and an elder. I've taught ASL Level III at the local university for last 2 years. I wanted to upgrade my resume. I found ASLTA through online. I paid for a membership last winter. I found that strange no receipt or membership card was sent to me by ASLTA. I checked my check that I paid to ASLTA through online. My bank no longer mails me the cancelled checks. Through computer, my check was posted by ASLTA. I was disappointed and wished for the membership card to prove that I was a member, you know. I registered the workshops in NYC, starting this weekend. They want to see my proof of payment if I was ASLTA member. Huh?

Hello everyone!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For several years , I earn money with the help of these programs.
I'm with no money problems now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and my first investment was 500 dollars only.
Right now, I'm very close at catching at last a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.
